Mission & Vision

According to “Bangladesh shilpakala Academy Act 1974” (Act 31 of 1974) Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy was established. Mission and Vision of this academy are being described in that act and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy ordinance of 1989.

  • To develop fine arts, and creed and to create ample opportunities and facilities for their development, in line with hope and aspiration of the nation.
  • To arrange workshops, seminars and discussion sessions with eminent and geniuses, scholars and artists.
  • To arrange short-term higher training courses in the specialized branches and practices of fine arts, crafts and culture.
  • To train up apprentice-artists for enhancement of their intelligence and wisdom.
  • To arrange specified scholarship under the Ordinance to the indigent but talented apprentice-artists, especially to the singers, dancers or instrumental artists.
  • To search out unknown or less-known artists and to create congenial atmosphere for their proper exposure and enhancement.
  • To evaluate the contributions of the institutions dedicated on fine arts and culture and if necessary to sanction financial aid for their activities and to assist in development of the intellect and qualities of its trainee and trainers.
  • To arrange competition on the subjects related to fine arts, performing arts and culture and to award prizes among the proficient performers.
  • To collect educative films on arts and culture or to produce such films inside the country and to patronize the arts and culture in the country by displaying them.
  • To make performers, singer, artistes of the country aware of the new dimensions and ideas, invite the artists and cultural troupes from different countries of high standards and to arrange their performances in front of them in the country.
  • To arrange different cultural functions for the necessity of the state.
  • To organize research program inviting competent person to solve different problems of Fine Arts, Performing Arts, Painting and Culture, to publish the deliberations and to arrange selling those deliberation.
  • To arrange different exhibitions and cultural functions to uphold art and culture of the country.
  • To send cultural troupes to different foreign countries with the approval of the government.
  • To perform any other activities related, contextual and supplementary to all the above mentioned activities.

Liaquat Ali Lucky

Director General is the chief of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Present Director General is Liaquat Ali Lucky, a prominent cultural personality of Bangladesh. He is a freedom fighter also. Liaquat Ali Lucky, son of Shikh sadek Ali and Mazeda Begum was born on 13 January 1957 at Nawabgang, Dhaka. He completed his graduation and post graduation from the Dept. English Literature of Dhaka University. He is an actor, director, singer, composer and a good organizer also. He has acted in 57 drama and directed 78 drama. He wrote 8 playwright also. He got the honor of “Artistic Excellence for children and youth theater” by Assitej , “Honorary cultural emong of Japan” from the Governor of Twaiama in Japan, “Dhaka University Gold Medal” in 1984 and “Samalaya Award” of Kolkata as the best children organizer. of Peoples Theatre Association and one of the founder and present vice president of Combined Cultural Alliance (Shommilito Shangskritik Jot) and president of Asian Regional committee of International Amateur Theatre Association. He was the elected cultural secretary of DUCSU. He is the only man whose directed stage drama “Kanjush” has been staged 642 times in Bangladesh and abroad. Under his leadership Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has gained tremendous success in its works.
